A group of Geraldton soccer players will represent regional WA in Singapore and Phuket next month.

Football West selected 13 local players for the WA squad, all of whom attended last year’s country week tournament and were later selected for a two-day soccer camp.

Geraldton Junior Soccer Association secretary Bethwyn Wyatt said the strong showing from Geraldton was a result of the skills and attitudes of the players.

“The fact that our players can participate at all is wonderful and hard to come by, given all the barriers people living in regional areas face,” Wyatt said.

“We’re super proud of them.”

The U12, U14 and 16 boys will leave Geraldton to participate in the Singa Cup on October 31, returning on November 8.

The U14 and U16 girls will travel from November 1 to November 9.

Meanwhile, the U13 and U15 boys will be gone from November 25 to December 3 to play in the Phuket Cup.
