Geraldton police arrest 29yo naked woman after breaking into Spalding home and setting underwear on fire

Police have charged a 29-year-old woman over a bizarre burglary in which she allegedly broke into a Spalding home and set a pair of underwear on fire on the kitchen stove before police arrested the naked intruder. Geraldton police were called to a home on Lawley Street on Tuesday about 9.30am after a 29-year-old woman allegedly broke into the property through a front window while the occupant was home. Officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Chris Martin said the occupant asked the woman to leave and she refused, so the occupant left the address while the accused stayed inside. He said the woman allegedly put a pair of underwear on the kitchen stove top and set them on fire, causing damage to the appliance. Police arrived and found the woman naked, hiding inside a blanket in the bathroom. She was arrested and taken to Geraldton Regional Hospital due to mental health concerns. Police believe the home occupant and the 29-year-old accused woman are known to each other. Sen. Sgt Martin said on arrest, the woman allegedly obstructed police officers. She was charged with aggravated burglary with intent, criminal damage and obstructing public officers and was scheduled to appear in court on October 12.
