Geraldton police arrest eight juveniles, charge them with 28 offences after HD’s Takeaway Rangeway break-in

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with the bulk of the offences after police charged eight juveniles over a recent crime spree. Geraldton’s youth crime wave is continuing and keeping frontline officers busy and the station’s lock-up full at times. The latest string of incidents involved eight juveniles arrested and charged with 28 offences and comes after the group allegedly broke into a Rangeway store two days in a row. Fourteen of those offences were laid against a 13-year-old boy, who is now been remanded in youth detention. Police said most of the offences were break-ins, stealing or burglary-related and were reported between Friday, May 13 and Tuesday, May 17. Geraldton police officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Chris Martin said the 13-year-old boy had been charged with six burglary and stealing offences, another six stealing offences and two counts of stealing a motor vehicles. He’s also been charged with breaching bail. Police allege a group of juveniles broke into HD’s Takeaway in Rangeway and stole ice-cream and lollies on Monday and Tuesday this week. With combined efforts and CCTV footage police were able to find the alleged offenders. Four of the juveniles faced court on Wednesday and were bailed, charged with burglary and stealing. The 13-year-old was arrested on Wednesday and faced court later that day. He has been remanded in custody at Banksia Hill Detention Centre.
