Geraldton police investigate after $80k worth of jewellery stolen from Toll delivery truck at loading bay

Geraldton police have issued a public appeal for help after $80,000 worth of jewellery was stolen in a brazen delivery truck heist on Wednesday. Police are seeking the public’s help to track down a woman who may be able to assist their investigation. It is alleged about 9.45am on Wednesday a delivery truck was parked in a loading zone at the intersection of Foreshore Drive and Cathedral Avenue, with the driver undertaking delivery duties. Geraldton police acting officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Mark Bramham said a female suspect, who was known to police, allegedly stole two satchels, which were to be delivered to Leon Baker Jewellers and Fine Sight Optical in nearby Marine Terrace. He said one satchel included 53 pieces of jewellery including diamond rings and pendants valued at about $80,000. Another satchel contained pairs of glasses. Fine Sight Optical Express manager Paul Abrahams confirmed two pairs of glasses to the value of $1000 were stolen and said customers had been affected by the theft and it was an inconvenience for them. Police described the suspect as a 34-year-old female. Toll Group and Leon Baker Jewellers were contacted for comment.
