Geraldton police investigate Bluff Point burglary, entry to home gained with keys found in unlocked vehicle

Geraldton police are investigating a burglary where a suspect stole house keys from inside an unlocked vehicle, gained entry to the home and stole a purse before fleeing inside a stolen vehicle. On Thursday, October 26, Geraldton police said an unknown offender approached a home on Hemsley Place, Bluff Point at about 1am and entered the carport, where an unlocked car was parked. Police say the suspect gained entry to the home with the house keys and stole a purse. “It is believed that keys to the premises have been located within a vehicle parked in the carport,” acting officer in charge Sgt Beau Jones said. Sgt Jones said the vehicle was also stolen and located later that morning abandoned. The stolen vehicle, a Toyota Rav4, was found in Wandina about 10.40am. The purse has not been recovered. “A person of interest has been identified and inquiries are continuing,” Sgt Jones said.
