Geraldton police investigating “suspicious” house fire in West End

Geraldton police are investigating a house fire in Geraldton’s West End, which is being treated as suspicious. Emergency services were called to Zodiac Lane about 9.35pm on Sunday night, with the triple-zero caller saying there was a shed on fire in the patio area of the house. Six crews attended the scene shortly after, with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services saying the fire had been extinguished thanks to intervention from a neighbour. Police say the fire caused “extensive damage” to the back of the house. A DFES spokesperson said the fire was “believed to be deliberate”, with firefighters making the area safe after it had been put out. Police tape surrounded the property on Monday morning.
