Geraldton police officer charged with Joyce Clarke’s murder

A Geraldton police officer has been charged with murder in relation to the fatal shooting of indigenous woman Joyce Clarke.

Ms Clarke died when shot during a street disturbance in Rangeway on September 17.

Officers from the Major Crime Division arrested the officer in Geraldton early today and he later appeared before a court in Perth.

'Family fears': Charged police officer's name suppressed.

Members of Ms Clarke’s family have been advised of the developments, as have WA Police Force staff.

“This is an active investigation and further information cannot be provided at this time,” WA Police said in a release.

“Updates will be provided when possible.”
