Geraldton police search for boys who allegedly stole three cars and drove to Perth after fuel drive-off

Geraldton police are searching for two juvenile boys who allegedly fled to Perth in a stolen vehicle after a car theft spree in Geraldton on Sunday. Acting officer in charge Sen. Sgt Nathan Johansen said three cars were allegedly stolen in Bluff Point within “close proximity”. “The Toyota RAV4 was stolen from Nazareth House in Bluff Point, the Mercedes vehicle was stolen from an address on Chapman Road, Bluff Point and a Toyota Camry was stolen as well,” he said. Sen. Sgt Johansen said police found the RAV4 in Beresford and the Mercedes on a bush track in Karloo on Tuesday, but discovered the third car was allegedly involved in a fuel drive-off 150km south of Geraldton. “CCTV found the Toyota Camry was located at the Leeman fuel station doing a fuel drive-off and as a result of the footage, two juveniles have been identified,” he said. On Wednesday, February 1, Geraldton police were advised the Camry was abandoned in Forrestfield and Sen. Sgt Johansen said police believed the suspects were still in Perth. “Perth police are aware and aren’t having luck locking down a certain address. We’re hoping they will be scooped in Perth or when they roll back here, we will take them in,” he said. Sen. Sgt Johansen said the suspects were 15 and 16-year-old boys from Geraldton, known to police, and believed that “given the proximity”, they were allegedly involved in stealing all three vehicles. “We understand they were targeted by the same people,” he said. “Police will keep the heat up, we’ve had patrols down there but they’re definitely still in Perth.”
