Geraldton Police searching for information on Beam e-scooter set deliberately ablaze

Geraldton police have issued a public plea for information after a Beam e-scooter was purposely set on fire last Sunday.
Police said they were alerted by smoke on the morning of Sunday December 11 and went to investigate, finding a purple Beam e-scooter which had been set ablaze off Scott Road in Rangeway.
The fire was deliberately lit, according to police.
Police have asked anyone with information to contact the station and quote the file number # 111222 0945 16846.
Beam were contacted and chose not to comment on the matter.
The company is three months into a 15-month trial involving 300 e-scooters for hire across Geraldton.
Earlier this month, Beam said it had issued 173 warnings for riding and parking offences such as riding dangerously, inappropriate parking and not wearing a helmet. As a result, Beam had handed out 47 permanent bans.
