Geraldton seniors encouraged to stay active through city’s eBike have a go event

The City of Greater Geraldton is encouraging its seniors to keep active, through an event where people can trial electric bikes. On Tuesday, May 21, the city is holding its Your Move Seniors Have a Go eBike event, as part of an initiative from the Department of Transport. People will be able to take part in activities involving eBikes, with Revolutions Geraldton providing guidance throughout the event. Geraldton Mayor Jerry Clune said the technology was a great way for older residents to stay active. “eBikes have made bike riding much more accessible in recent years and with our fantastic weather, foreshores and cycle paths there is no better place than Geraldton to strap on a helmet and start pedalling,” he said. “I encourage all of our seniors who have ever harboured an interest getting on an eBike to head down and experience the joy and ease that comes with riding one. “I would like to thank the Department of Transport and Revolutions Geraldton for their generous support in helping our seniors stay mobile and active.” The event will take place between 9am and 12pm behind the Queen Elizabeth II Seniors and Community Centre. Bikes and helmets will be supplied during the session.
