The Geraldton softball grand finals have been confirmed, following an exciting preliminary final round.

In the A-grade men’s prelim, the Martians Softball Club defeated the Rams Softball Club 12-8 to book their place in the grand final against Suiside.

It’s the Martians third grand final appearance and they will be hoping to win their first ever premiership in the men’s competition.

They will take on a Suiside team that has only lost two games all season.

The game was rained out on Saturday night and resumed on Sunday morning, with the Martians taking out a 3-0 early lead.

A brief fightback from the Rams off the back of Kingsley Dawson and Shane Clark put the blues in front.

However, the Martians steadied the ship thanks to hits from Gareth Boof Coker, Kynan Legget and Murphy Reid to see the game out.

The A-grade women’s prelim was a nail-biting affair with the Rams defeating the Martians 8-7.

The Rams pulled away early taking a 6-1 lead thanks to hits from Erin Dawson, Kristi March, Tara Hawkins and Amy Cook.

The Martians pushed their way back into the contest with two runs in the six then another three to tie the contest.

However, the Rams rallied to close the game out, winning by a run and giving them a shot at their first flag in six years.

Setting them up for a showdown against the Midwest Marlins in the grand final.

The Marlins will face the Rams for the A-grade women’s cup on Saturday, April 9 at 7pm.

While Suiside take on the Martians for the A grade men cup at 5pm.
