Geraldton softball round 12: Suiside ends Rams undefeated streak with a one-run win

The women’s division one leaders Rams have had their undefeated run ended by Suiside on the weekend.
The Suiside team put up a solid team effort, securing a narrow 11-10 victory in the Saturday clash.
Rams coach Dion Fletcher remained positive about the team despite the loss.
“A good loss never hurt anyone, I know we will bounce back like a good team does,” he said.
“We had an off game and probably didn’t execute as well as we should have when it came to the crunch, but that’s why we train.”
Pi’s Panthers secured a much-needed and convincing win against Marlins on Wednesday evening, defeating Les Purcell’s ladies 14-4.
Pi’s Marlins and Martians are currently tied on the ladder with eight points, competing for the third spot under Rams and Suiside in the upcoming rounds.
In the division one men’s category, Dylan Percy’s Suiside triumphed over the Martians, securing a 3-1 victory in a closely contested match.
The win hinged on Suiside’s consistent play in the field, and they now boast an almost insurmountable lead on the ladder, one win away from guaranteeing the minor premiership.
Percy was full of praise for his depleted side and remained cautiously optimistic about the run to finals,
“The rest of the team stepped up and took on the challenge against a strong-looking Martian’s side,” he said.
“With four games to go until finals, we have basically locked in a grand final spot and are thrilled about it but know we have a lot to work on and some tough competition to get through before it’s all said and done.”
Rams had an outstanding day against Blaze, claiming a 13-3 victory. Dean Pascoe displayed consistency on the pitcher’s mound supported by the experience of Dion Fletcher and Paul Valenti.
Rams are now tied with Martians and aim to secure the second spot in the upcoming rounds.
Suiside extended their winning streak in the men’s division two game, defeating Rams 10-4 and Gunduwa hit their stride this season, overpowering Midwest Marlins with an 18-3 win on Saturday.
Suiside has now established a five-point cushion at the top of the ladder, setting their sights on the minor premiership.
In the second division ladies, Suiside rounded off a perfect week for the club with an impressive 18-0 victory over Martians on Saturday.
The Marlins versus Pi’s Panthers second division match-up stole the spotlight with action-packed play throughout on Thursday, resulting in Marlins taking the win 15-9.
