Geraldton softball round 15: Rams, Martians, Blaze look to seize opportunities to join Suiside in grand final

Finals places are on the line in multiple grades as round 15 of Geraldton softball promises to light up the diamond this weekend. In men’s division one, Suiside wrapped up top spot and a direct grand final berth last round, leaving the rest of the competition scrapping to earn the right to join them. All four teams take to the field on Friday night under lights, with Rams facing Martians, and Blaze squaring off against Suiside. Rams will come out firing, and look to capitalise on some inconsistent form from Martians, with Kurt Mead continuing a strong run at the plate and in the field. Martians will not lie down easily, though, and can be expected to throw everything at the contest. In the other clash, Blaze’s Jack and Eli Etherton are coming into their best form at the right time. With both pitcher and catcher expected back and raring to go, Blaze will test Suiside, who despite having finals locked in, will still be hunting wins and momentum heading into the business end of the season. Women’s division one remains wide open, with finals spots still to be confirmed. Marlins sit on the verge of securing their place, but Rams are close behind and applying constant pressure. Marlins have the chance to put some breathing space between themselves and the chasing pack with a double-header against Pi’s Panthers and Martians on Saturday afternoon. Rams face Suiside later in the day in another crucial match-up. With quality batting and strong defensive units across all sides, this round could go a long way to shaping the finals picture. In men’s division two and three action on Saturday, Suiside will look to continue their superb form against Rams Blue. Rams White take on Pi’s, with Pi’s still chasing their first win since the division split. In division three, Martians meet an in-form Blaze, while Marlins will be hunting their first win of the season against Gunduwa. Gunduwa will be keen to bounce back after fielding an undermanned side last round. Women’s division two and three also take centre stage on Saturday. Top side Marlins take on Gunduwa in division two, while Blaze meet an in-form Suiside. In division three, Rams Blue face Martians, and Rams White take on Pi’s Panthers, with plenty still to play for as the season edges closer to finals.
