Geraldton softball round 4 preview: Champion Suiside look to extend winning streak against the Blaze

Suiside look to carry their grand final momentum and make it four in a row this week in round four of the Geraldton Softball season on Saturday, November 11. The trio of Cooper Jefferies, Liam Meharry, and Blade Jefferies have displayed outstanding form. The league leaders will face off against Sean Thompson’s newly established Batavia Blaze, who are aiming to avoid a repeat of their 7-0 loss to Suiside in the second round, in the men’s division one clash. In the other division one game, Rams will compete against Paul Valenti’s Martians, who have achieved a record of two wins and two losses thus far. Tane Brott has been exceptional on the pitcher’s mound for Martians, but Rams, who feature father-son duo of Dion and Fletcher Harrison, are in good form and may secure another victory against the Martians. In the division one women’s competition, the early leaders are the reigning champion Rams team who are on the bye, with Dion Harrison’s ladies boasting a perfect 4-0 record. This leaves Suiside taking on the Marlins and the Pi’s Panthers going up against the Martians. Suiside, coming off a tiebreaker win against Pi’s, aim to outperform Taryn Purcell’s Marlins. Meanwhile, Pi’s hope to rebound against Martians, with coach David Sutton staying confident in his side. “We started strong against Suiside last week, will regroup and have strong players in Sandra Watts, Nat Wisewould and Selina Kiddle,” he said. In the women’s division two games, Midwest Marlins have a double-header, facing Suiside on Wednesday and Martians on Saturday. Suiside, with a perfect 3-0 record this season, are the in-form team. Martians will also have a double-header, with their other game against Pi’s Panthers scheduled to take place directly after their first match. In the men’s division two ladder, Suiside is matching their female counterparts with a perfect record so far. They take on Martians Black, who also have a double-header, playing against Marlins earlier on Saturday. Additionally, Batavia Blaze will face Martians Red, and Gundawa will compete against Rams. In the newly created division three women’s side, high-scoring games have been the norm, with Gundawa posting an impressive 29 runs against Martians in the last round. They kick off the week against Blaze on Wednesday afternoon and play their second game against Martians on Saturday, who also have a double-header, facing the Rams as well.
