Martians have a tall task ahead as they take on the undefeated Suiside in a top-of-the-table clash in men’s division one of the Geraldton Softball Association. Suiside currently sit at 5-0 with Cooper Jefferies, Blade Jefferies, and Liam Meharry all in superb form for the ladder leaders. Their opponents, the Martians, are the second-placed side with a good run of form, Tane Brott is pitching well this season, and the team is gelling both in the field and at bat. Friday evening sees the Rams facing Blaze, with Sean Thompson’s side still searching for its first win of the season. The Rams themselves have had a spotty start, coming off two heavy losses to the Martians and Suiside, hoping for better fortune and a return to form for some key players. In the women’s division two games, the Rams team remains unbeaten. Several players have shown a purple patch of form lately, with Hayley Coker, Erin Dawson, and Stevie Usher demonstrating their experience for the team. The Marlins will test the ladder leaders’ unbeaten record on Saturday afternoon, with Taryn Purcell’s side aiming to build some consistency for their mid-season push. The Martians have a double header against Pi’s Panthers and Suiside on Saturday afternoon. With only two points separating the sides, the play-off places are still up for grabs. Suiside are dominating in division two as well, with a 6-0 record. They face the Gundawa side, who are just beginning to find their feet and could pose a challenge to the Bulldogs. Blaze have a chance to cement second spot with a double header on Wednesday and Saturday against Marlins and Martians Black, while Martian Red will take on the Rams. Division two women’s games will see ladder leaders Suiside taking on Martians, and Marlins facing Pi’s Panthers on Saturday afternoon.
