Geraldton talent Alexia Parenzee successfully launches debut EP Retrospect at warehouse party

An array of colour and community spirit filled Sweet Orange Productions’ typically utilitarian warehouse in Webberton on Saturday, as the space transformed into a vibrant cultural hub for the launch of local talent Alexia Parenzee’s debut EP Retrospect. The turnout was a huge success as Parenzee and other supporting acts, including Squeaky Frequencies, Reuben and Olivia De Melo, Watchcogs and Inflatable Cactus put on a impressive performance throughout the evening. Parenzee’s alternative soul-folk music with South African roots drew hundreds of people to the event in support of the launch. Retrospect is a five-song album compiling rewritten stories jotted down while travelling the world. Band members Rhyce Elliott, Rickie Glegg, Elias Harun, James Softley and Paul Francis Wood helped Parenzee rewrite the stories in recent years. Sweet Orange Production’s industrial warehouse was transformed into a dreamy miniature festival for the night, offering local frothies from 30 Knots, Finlay’s Brewing, Illegal Tender Distilling Co, Froth Craft Brewery and Sour Hour Cocktails. The event showcased the talent in the Mid West-Gascoyne music scene, with local bands captivating audiences with their unique indie, alternative vibes. It served as proof there is ample support across the community, as strangers came together and celebrated local artists.
