The Geraldton Junior Soccer Association sent nine teams to country week this year with strong representation across all ages. Geraldton Junior Soccer Association country week co-ordinator Shell Johnson said they sent a large crop of talent this year. “This year’s country week was a blast, we took 135 kids making up nine teams from U11 to U17, we even welcomed three kids from Newman,” she said. “The week was fun, satisfying, hard week, challenging and emotional but hey, that’s the competition.” For the under-17s side this was their last country week in the juniors side, and while they did not take home a victory they still managed to compete against tough competition. “A few of our U17 boys and girls played their last country week tournament. We give a huge shout-out to them and their families for the dedication and commitment over the years,” Johnson said. Out of all the sides, the under-11s A team managed to reach the grand final for a second year in a row and faced off against the Coast Country side, but they fell 3-1 to take home silver.
