Geraldton to celebrate Tina Turner when tribute show heads to Queens Park Theatre next month

Geraldton will be up on its feet celebrating an icon when TINA — The Ultimate Tribute To The Queen Of Rock ‘N’ Roll heads to Queens Park Theatre. The 2½-hour show is a concert which brings the hits of the late Tina Turner back to the stage, featuring four decades of her work. The rock‘n’roll icon started out as one half of Ike & Tina Turner, before moving on to a successful solo career, performing songs like The Best, What’s Love Got To Do With It, and River Deep — Mountain High. Caroline Borole, the artist in charge of bringing the show to life, said it was a privilege to embody Turner while she performed. “It’s both an honour and the scariest thing ever, to be honest,” Borole said. “I want to make sure I do her justice. “To be able to do this every single night, it’s wonderful and it’s one of the best things I think I’ll do in my life.” Borole was born in South Africa and grew up in a musical family. She said Turner was one of her inspirations growing up, after hearing the album The Soul of Ike & Tina Turner when she was 10 years old. After performing for several years, she auditioned for the tribute show and was successful, having the look and voice to emulate the star, according to director Johnny Van Grinsven. Borole said the show was more than just a performance of Tina Turner’s discography, adding she studied the legend’s mannerisms and choreography to make it as authentic as possible. The show is part of an Australia-wide tour which began earlier this month. Borole said it would be her first time in Geraldton, but she was keen to check it out. “I’m quite excited to see Geraldton,” she said. “I’m looking forward to finding out its vibe. “We’ve done an up-and-down of Australia as part of this tour, and I’ve enjoyed seeing the regions.” The show will take place on Saturday, July 13, with doors opening at 7pm.
