Geraldton to host pop-up clinics for free COVID rapid antigen tests this month

Geraldton residents will receive free rapid antigen tests when pop-up distribution clinics open at the end of the month. Thousands of testing kits are being delivered across regional WA as part of phase two of the Sate Government’s free RAT program, with the pop-up clinics to complement the distribution of 15 testing kits to registered households. Locals can visit the nearest pop-up clinic and access tests without prior registration, with the scheme already being rolled out in Perth. The program, which will distribute 500,000 free tests across WA, is expected to be in Geraldton, Broome, Albany and Bunbury by March 28. Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson said the program aimed to make COVID testing more accessible. “Accessing these extra free RATs in more convenient locations in metropolitan and regional areas means more people will be able to prepare their households to deal with the risks of Omicron without adding additional pressure on household budgets,” she said. “It is heartening to see participating sites and organisations band together to help distribute extra RATs and help the community prepare for the impacts of Omicron.” Local distribution sites have yet to be confirmed, but will be available online at wa.gov.au in coming weeks.
