Geraldton Town Beach boat ramp one of eight local governments to receive State Government grant funding

A popular boat facility in Geraldton will get a boost to infrastructure after eight local governments were allocated grant funding in the most recent round of handouts. The City of Greater Geraldton will receive $300,000 to improve the Town Beach jetty. The works will include upgrades to the concrete slabs at the Francis Street boat launch. The project is one of eight local governments to see an upgrade across Karratha to Busselton as part of the $1.5m Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS). The RBFS has supported a total of 456 projects across the State and aims to support local councils to provide improved infrastructure for boaters. Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said investing in improvements to the boating industry, a popular pastime across the State, was important. “The Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme recognises and supports the important role that local governments play in providing improved and safer facilities for recreational boat owners throughout WA,” she said. “Boat owners can also take some credit as they directly contribute to the scheme when they pay their boat registration fees.”
