A Geraldton tradie has spoken of his shock after winning a $1 million Monday Lotto windfall from the November 16 draw.

The numbers from his System 5 ticket, bought with a Lotterywest membership online, were a mixture of birthday numbers and his age.

The winner, who has requested not to be named, said he recently changed his numbers after his birthday, which took place the week before the November draw.

“If these numbers came up a week earlier, I would have missed out,” he said.

“I was about to go to bed but decided to check my numbers when I realised I’d won.

“I couldn’t get to sleep until 2am and then had to get up for work at 5am.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said to date, 78 WA players had taken out a division one prize in 2020.

“These WA players have shared in more than $105 million,” Ms Compagnone said.

“As the holiday season approaches, it would be fantastic to see more WA players start the new year with a division one win.

“The next big chance for players is the upcoming $30 million Megadraw on 2 January 2021.”
