It’s the last chance for trainers to grab some glory at the Geraldton Turf Club as they host their final meet of the season being held on Friday afternoon. There will be maiden glory in race one with the 1200m race set to be contested by a busy 16-strong field. Destructor has plenty of experience at Geraldton with several placings at the track but will have to overcome a wide barrier draw but does have the speed to do it. Raging Beauty has 19 races to her name with two placings in her last two runs at the track and is the other strong prospect to breakthrough. Race 2 is a 1600m class 1 handicap with Juruena Gold looking to back up his win in race two at the Gold Cup with Vanman and Vivarok likely to provided the biggest challenge. Westozi is a big chance in the 1900m race three with four wins in his last 11 all coming at Geraldton but Adam Durrant’s Ihts Closing Inn could easily claim another win for the club’s trainer of the year after his win in race eight of the Cup. Race four is an 1100m with Julia Martin’s Justa Lil Faith and Ray Malpass’ The Witch Doctor expected to lead the field while Peter Daly’s Moorumbine has not finished outside the top two in his last four starts. Race five has Sean Rains’ Shamara in a perfect draw with Copping Points at least good for a place with Bold Prophet and Mahutas also strong chances. Tony Scally’s Mombasa is the leading hope for the 1400m race seven while Lisa Staples could be a handful aboard Royal Gap with Justhandy a place hope. The final race of the season has Chix Chatter as a winning chance looking to finish off the season in the hot form he started in but he could be eclipsed by the likes of Jupiter Rising and Bombay Style.
