Geraldton Water Polo Association is gearing up for the 2023-24 season

The Geraldton Water Polo Association is all set to make a splash in its upcoming 2023-24 season as new developments unfold, with round one set to start on October 13. In a historic move, the GWPA is sending not one, but two under-18 teams interstate to Brisbane in January 2024. This marks a significant milestone for the association as it will be their first-ever foray into interstate competition. The anticipation leading up to the journey has been high, with more than 40 players competing for a spot in the squad. The Water Polo Australia (WPA) National League is coming to Geraldton on November 25. The Mid West city will serve as the battleground for a showdown between the Perth League teams, the UWA Torpedoes, and the Fremantle Mariners and Marlins, showcasing the cream of the crop in Australian water polo. The WPA National League is renowned for its fierce competition and brings together teams from across the nation. For local fans, this event is an unmissable opportunity to witness world-class water polo up close and personal. In the men’s A-grade, the B52’s will hope to bounce back from their shock grand final defeat against Demons when they take on the Relics. Demons, however, will be buoyant after ending 2023 on a high. Rats, however, will prove to be a big test in their opening game. In the women’s A-grade, the B52’s will take on Rats. The B52’s will look to continue their dominance from the first round, but may be playing without high-scoring Tenielle Hawke. In the other A-grade game, Demons will take on the newly formed Geraldton Composite side, who will look to give playing time to country week players, the Junior Australian Youth championship girl’s team and a rebuilding Serpents side.
