Geraldton water polo round 4 preview: Demons and Rats clash for top spot on the ladder

The Demons are looking to make it three in a row and retain top spot when they face second placed Rats on Friday, November 3. In men’s A-grade of the Geraldton Water Polo Association, the Demons are leading the way with two impressive wins. They will welcome back high-scoring Lachy Toomath, whose pairs well with Zac Cross. Luke Neuwert’s Rats showed great determination in their last match, putting in a valiant effort without substitutions, allowing them to contend for top spot this week. B52s will take on the Relics and the B52s’ father-son duo of Daniel and Leo Prout will pose challenges for any opponent this season. The young Leo already has five goals in the A-grade. The Relics are in search of their first points this season and boast plenty of firepower, with Corey Smith already notching six goals for his team. In the women’s A-grade, the B52s have not missed a beat without last season’s top scorer Tenielle Hawke and they sit atop the ladder with three wins from three games. Emma Smith and Evie Prout are both in fine scoring form for the side as they face the Rats on Saturday, November 4. The Demons take on the composite side, with the MacDonald sisters Abbie and Sian returning to form and with Trixie Kerr and Mel Buscombe in goal for the Demons, the side looks ready to contend. The B52s Relics will take on the Rats in the men’s B-grade and the Demons will go up against the B52s. In the women’s B-grade the B52s kick things off against Rats and the Demons will face the Serpents. The Rats have a C-grade double-header on Saturday, against the Demons then B52s. While the women’s C-grade opens on Friday with Demons Black taking on B52s. Serpents Green have their derby against Serpents yellow the next day and Rats Black go in the water with Demons Yellow to finish the round. Geraldton Water Polo Association spokeswoman Julia Gourley is excited this round’s action. “We are also only weeks away from hosting exhibition games by the Fremantle and UWA national league teams here in Geraldton on November 25, with UWA organising a two-day camp for our members” she said.
