Geraldton water polo round 7 preview: Geraldton hosts State under-19s team for clinics and exhibition matches

Geraldton will play host to an exhibition match between the UWA Torpedoes and the Comets on top of the round seven action of the Geraldton water polo association. The State under-19s teams will make their way to Geraldton to provide two-day training clinics for coaches, athletes and referees over the weekend, before playing a women’s and men’s exhibition match on the Saturday. In the men’s A-grade of the local league, the competition is tight at the top, with Demons leading and B52s closely following. Demons dropped crucial points in their draw against the Relics in the last round and will rely on Zacc and Joel Cross to score goals against Rats on Friday evening. B52s come off a strong win against Rats in the last round, with young talents Kingston Warren, Leo Prout, and Jimmy Horsman impressing this season. They face the Relics on Friday, who, after a well-fought draw against the ladder leaders, seek their first win this season, relying on the experience of Kuty and Drew Tunbridge. The B52s lead the ladder in women’s A-grade with 5 wins out of 6, having suffered their only loss against an enthusiastic Demons side last weekend. The ladder leaders boast depth with Maddie Pead, Evie Prout, and Emma Smith in excellent form. They play against Rats on Saturday, who have two losses in league play, falling to Demons and the ladder leaders. In men’s B-grade, the unbeaten B52s appear hard to catch for the top spot. They face Demons on Sunday, who are coming off a good win against an undermanned Rats team last round. Rats hope for substitutes when facing Relics on Sunday. Women’s B-grade sees Demons take on Serpents on Friday afternoon, the Serpents are coming off a couple of losses and will rely on their more experienced players to get back on track. Rats play against the B52s in the other B-grade match. In C-grade games, the men see B52s against Rats, and Demons take on Rats on Sunday afternoon. The women’s games has Serpents Green face Rats Black early on Saturday, Rats Orange play Serpents Yellow later in the day, and Demons Yellow v Demons Black is the weekend’s derby game.
