Geraldton’s Brooke Jefferies has reached 50 per cent of her fundraising goal for bushfire relief — and she is planning to raise at least £2000 ($3790) as a charity entrant in this year’s London Marathon, competing against more than 40,000 other runners on April 26.

The UK-based Aussie is gathering support through her Brooke Jefferies Australian Bushfire Relief page on JustGiving.com.

“I have never run a marathon before and never had an interest before this, but when you have a cause that means so much ... I didn’t need to think twice when the opportunity arose about taking on the challenge,” she said.
