The Boomers made a perfect start to their Asian Cup defence with a win over Jordan on Tuesday evening.

Led by the powerful Thon Maker, the Boomers jumped to a 15-point lead in the first quarter and despite a blip in the third controlled the game for a comfortable 78-60 point victory.

After playing for just more than a minute in his debut, Geraldton’s Alex Ducas upped his court time playing just under six minutes and picking up two rebounds and a steal. He also got his first shot off but missed his three-pointer.

Maker was an immense presence on the court, scoring 23 points and leading the team in the absence of veteran stars.

They will play Indonesia tomorrow night following up from their game against Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
