Geraldton’s Peter Dowie came through with the goods in the final race of the Tri-City Series to claim a round win and the series crown.

The three-race event was held across Ellenbrook, Geraldton and Perth and saw competitors battle it out in Speedway Australia’s biggest division, the street stocks.

The final race at Perth Motorplex was held from January 12-13, and it came down to the wire in the final race for the street stocks.

Dowie started off pole and was racing with competitor Hayden Norman right next to him for the majority of the race.

In the final sprint, Dowie came storming home to beat Norman by just 0.081sec. to take the final race win.

While another Geraldton competitor, Jamie Oldfield, was in the overall lead heading into the final night, he finished ninth in the last race and ended the series on 337 points overall.

The win let Dowie jump over Oldfield with 384 points to take out the Tri-City Series win.

With the win, Dowie takes home the Tri-City Series trophy and $4500 for the top prize, while Oldfield finished in second place and pocketed $2800. Ben Norman rounded out the podium with 288 series points.

Oldfield had previously won the round two race that was held in Geraldton on November 25, and Dowie finished third in the race.

The round two race was the first time that the street stocks division was held in the Mid West city in 13 years.
