I’m not on social media, but that does not mean I am completely cut off from it.

I’m aware of what people are saying and what’s being posted on community groups as it can be a helpful insight into the issues on the public’s minds.

As the officer-in-charge, I’m always open to any and all questions about what you want in the community.

Obviously, it is impossible to make everyone happy and we do see and I do accept some of the criticism we have received online.

However, I would like to make a point that your local police are only as effective as the community around them.

Lots of people do report things or vent their frustrations on Facebook and notice boards but it can be difficult for us to follow up if you do not report it directly to us.

We are not going to hide away from any issues you may have, one of the biggest challenges in policing these days can be identifying which priorities to focus on.

The more information you provide to us the better we can address your needs.

All of the police officers are working flat out, in one inquiry unit alone they’ve arrested 56 people since the start of the month with 146 charges being laid and there are seven units in Geraldton.

I would like to extend thanks to those who have helped and supported us in our various investigations.

So if you have a question, concern, criticism or even a thankyou let us know, I urge you to get in touch with us or submit a report online and I will make sure we will get an answer for you.

As things are heating up as we approach the summer months it is more important than ever that we work together to make the community a safer and better place.
