Sharon Sinclair took out the 2018 Fashions on the Field, beating 18 other contestants at the recent Geraldton Gold Cup.

The autumn seasonal round featured a mixture of bright frills, boldly styled with contrasting colours, and the seasonal favourites — burgundy and plum colours.

Ms Sinclair boasted a burgundy metallic skirt paired with a mesh, nude long-sleeved top piece and gold metallic closed heels with a feathered fascinator in burgundy.

Judge and owner of Finity Concept Darren Wells said it was the hardest round he had ever judged.

“All the ladies who entered have upped the ante this year, the ones that competed are competing on the next level up,” he said.

Mr Wells said they were looking for seasonal trends and appropriate criteria including fabrication, colours, closed shoes and millinery all working together.

“Sharon’s attention to detail stood out, the earrings were amazing, her hair with the French roll was perfection, the dress with the metallic and burgundy hit both those points, and the closed shoe to match. She had it all going,” he said.

In second place was Karen Thompson with a pink nude floral dress and a broad nude fascinator paired with a bold rose to match the floral in her dress.

Christy Poulsen placed third, wearing a hot-pink floral dress with boldly matching closed shoes, clutch and fascinator.

Ms Poulsen won last year’s Fashions on the Field and Ms Thompson placed third in the same 2017 competition.
