Railways and Mullewa are playing for all the glory in the Great Northern Football League’s reserves grand final on Saturday. Brigades were looking like the team to beat all year, losing just one game during the home-and-away season, but both the Blues and the Saints stunned them in the finals. Railways are back in the grand final after losing last year by just one point in heartbreaking fashion. Now the side will need to get past Mullewa if they want to finish the job. The Blues finished second on the ladder after going 10-2 and had the highest winning percentage in the league, with their two losses coming from Brigades and Mullewa. The side has been consistent all year and need just another victory on the weekend against a Mullewa side that has hit their stride at just the right time. The Saints started their season up and down but coming into finals is when it all started clicking. Securing big wins against Railways and Chapman Valley late in the regular season, they managed to come away from the elimination match with a close three-point win. Mullewa then took on Brigades and won in dominant form, applying defensive pressure across the ground and not letting the top side have any scoring until late when the game was already over. Railways and Mullewa face off one last time for the flag on Saturday at WA Country Builders Stadium in Wonthella from 11.05am.
