Hockey returned from the holiday break with round 12 of the Geraldton Hockey Association as the midfield battles remain deadlocked across the leagues.

In Men’s A-Grade, Rovers defeated Yacht Club 4-1 as Braden Kietzman, Cameron Hoefhammer, Paul Valenti and James Van Niftrik all got on the board for Rovers with Corin Berrigan pulling one back for Yachts.

Fifth-placed Australs managed to overcome the Saints as Amos Steiger, Justin Clarkson and Adam Westbrook scored to take a 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Casuals maintained their perfect streak with a Dan Golding double increasing their advantage at the top with a 3-0 win over last-placed Murchison.

Women’s A-Grade saw a huge win for the second-placed Australs over the winless Swans 6-0 with Arizona Galbraith and Jenna Johnson scoring doubles with singles to Eleasha Donovan and Nicola Steincamp.

The unbeaten Cardinals had no trouble against the Saints with Sian Russell, Mikala Van Niftrik and Gemma Dix all scoring in the three-nil win.

In the Men’s A-Reserve, Casuals crushed the winless Murchison as Angus Grant scored five in an eight-nil victory but second-placed Yacht Club kept the pressure on them with a three-nil win over the Saints as Kurt Mead scored two and Jay O’Sullivan one to stay four points behind Casuals.

The Women’s A-Reserve had a bye and will return on Thursday.
