Good for You: Spacey Jane receives equal most entries in 2025 Triple J Hottest 100 count for a second time

West Australian rock band Spacey Jane — with their distinct Geraldton flavour — have enjoyed another successful run in triple j’s Hottest 100 but are still chasing an elusive victory. The four-person band, including Geraldton’s Caleb Harper and Kieran Lama, had the equal-most entries in January 24’s countdown, sharing the honour with eventual winner Olivia Dean, who also had five songs. All five Spacey Jane songs finished in the top 50, with Whateverrrr cracking the top 10 at number seven. Other entries included All the Noise at 25, Through My Teeth at 31, Estimated Delivery at 39 and How to Kill Houseplants at 42. This is the second time that Spacey Jane have had the most songs in a countdown, but fell one song short of matching their six-song feat in 2022. The band have quickly become a staple in triple j’s countdown since debuting in 2019 with Good for You. This year’s count takes them to 21 entries across seven consecutive countdowns. Spacey Jane’s best result in any countdown was in 2020, coming in second for Booster Seat. Man I Need by the UK’s Olivia Dean won the fan-voted 2025 countdown, as Keli Holiday’s Dancing2 came runner-up. Perth’s Tame Impala came in at number three with Dracula, while Victorian rockers Playlunch finished fourth with Keith. This year, 54 entries were Australian acts, a significant improvement from last year, which only had 29 Aussie entries and was widely criticised for its lack of local music. More than 2.65 million votes were cast, with 11 per cent coming from WA. On Thursday night, Spacey Jane headlined the Australian Open’s AOLive festival at John Cain Arena in Melbourne.
