Great Northern Women’s Football League: Double-header semifinals blockbuster

The two semifinals in the women’s competition of the GNFL will be played at WA Country Builders Stadium next Thursday night. The first semifinal starts at 6pm and the second semi at 7.15pm. The youth girls’ grand final will begin the female finals festivities, starting at 4.30pm. “It’s not an ideal situation, but it’s been organised like this to avoid clashes with other sports,” GNFL operations manager Mat Cook said. “It has obviously been a challenging year with all the restrictions and changes we’ve had to make with fixturing.” There will be little rest for the winner of the first semi and the loser of the second semi in the women’s, with the preliminary final to be played after the men’s first semifinal between Chapman Valley and Brigades at Warren Taylor Homes Recreation Ground on Sunday, September 20. The grand final in the women’s league will be played a week later.
