The Mid West has lived up to its billing of a football hotbed, with five players selected in the first intake of the 2018 WA State 16s Academy.

Successful players within the intake were: Edward Curley (Mullewa), Owen Dann (Towns), Jack Carroll (Chapman Valley), Campbell Tirrant (Brigades) and Logan McDonald (Coorow-Latham).

Coached by WAFL coaching legend Tony Micale, the 16s will play a series of trial matches against WAFL and State-based colts opposition ahead of the national carnival which begins on June 24 in Adelaide against South Australia.
