A 61-year-old man has been charged by Geraldton detectives in relation to investigations into historical child sexual abuse.

Police alleged the man sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl, who was known to him, between 1982 and 2001.

They also alleged, between July 2017 and February 2018, the man sexually assaulted a seven-year-old who was known to him.

The man has been charged withfive counts of having knowingly sexually penetrated a child (lineal relative); two counts of indecent dealings with a child who is a lineal relative or de facto child; 10 counts of indecent dealings with a child under 14 years; and three counts of unlawful and indecent assault. The man, who is now in prison, was due to appear before the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court today.
