Ian John Cameron: Geraldton Police nab man on the run who allegedly held a woman ‘for weeks’ against her will

A man accused of holding his partner against her will for more than a month has been arrested after a week on the run. Geraldton detectives launched a search for 46-year-old Ian John Cameron last week, saying he was “unpredictable” and the public should not approach him. Police have alleged he held a woman whom he had been in a relationship with against her will at an address in Webberton from June 18 to August 9. MORE NEWS Upon further investigation and with some further information from the public, he was located by police and arrested about 2.30pm on Monday at an address on Hill Way, Geraldton. Mr Cameron appeared in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday charged with four counts of aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm against the same woman, two counts of deprivation of liberty, aggravated common assault, unlawful wounding, being armed in a way that may cause fear, criminal damage or destruction of property, threats to injure and acts or omissions causing bodily harm or danger. He was remanded in custody with bail not considered, and is due to reappear on November 4 after facing court on October 1 and November 1 on 10 other charges including causing bodily harm, damaging property, home burglary, unlawful trespassing, and failing to meet reporting obligations.
