Ice-cream van’s bid to stay
A foreshore favourite is set to see another summer, with the City expected to approve a popular food van’s licence for another three years.
Fusions Gelato Mobile Cafe has applied to the City of Greater Geraldton to continue trading at two locations on the foreshore in 2021, with the option of two extra years, after its licence expired in October.
The business has been alternating its operations between the north and south of the foreshore since 2017, selling coffee and locally handmade ice-cream, depending on demand.
Fusions Gelato owner operator Tobias Dieterich, who took over the business a year and a half ago, fronted the council at its agenda forum on Tuesday to present the application. He said it had been a pleasure to serve gelato to the Geraldton community and he hoped to continue to do so.
Tonight at its December ordinary meeting, council will vote on the motion to give locals public notice of the intent to grant the licence.
