The Marine Terrace building that housed the iconic Bennett’s clothing store sold for an undisclosed price today, 15 minutes after it was passed in at auction.

No bids were placed for the Geraldton property, which had a reserve of $1.4 million.

Ray White Geraldton principal licensee Peter Sukiennik said all parties were happy with the negotiations.

Auctioneer John Harvey said other buildings on Marine Terrace to have sold recently included the former Rocks Newsagency building for $1.8 million and the former ANZ building for $1.5 million.

The former ANZ building is now occupied by Hazard Clothing.

Yesterday was Bennett’s last day of trading after more than nine decades.
