Juveniles remanded in custody following alleged Wonthella burglary at the weekend

Two 12-year-old boys have been remanded in custody following an alleged burglary in Wonthella where police say a wallet and handbag were stolen while people were in the home sleeping. Two boys have been sent to Banksia Hill Juvenile Detention Centre after police arrested them late on Saturday night. Police allege the pair entered a home on Eighth Street, Wonthella, about 9am and stole a wallet and handbag, which contained bank and ID cards, car keys and about $400 cash. A person asleep at the time woke to noise and witnessed the boys running out of the house, throwing stolen items of property on the ground as they fled, police claim. Acting officer in charge Sen. Sgt Paul Johnson said police located the accused pair 30 minutes later at an address in Rangeway. He alleged they were in possession of the stolen property, including keys. Both boys were charged with burglary and stealing. They were remanded in custody by a Perth magistrate on Sunday and will reappear on Tuesday.
