Kristian Papertalk has won a sixth Gus Mourish Medal after being named Mullewa Football Club’s best league player in the 2023 season on Saturday.

Leon Galby was runner-up and Danira Papertalk was best women’s player.

The presentation of the club awards was a long time coming given the other six GNFL clubs held their wind-ups soon after the last season ended. The event was preceded by Mullewa’s annual general meeting.

Papertalk also won the Mourish Medal in 2011, 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2022. He joins Darryn Tunbridge, who won in 1988, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1997 as a six-time winner for the Saints.

Only two players have won more club best league player awards — the Brigades’ Warren Jones and Chapman Valley’s Michael Farrell. Both are eight-time medallists.
