La Fiamma got back to winning ways on Saturday night with a tight one-nil victory over the bottom-of-the-table Woodvale FC.

Coming off back-to-back losses La Fiamma were in need of a win to keep their promotion aspirations alive and got off to a perfect start scoring an early goal to take a one-nil lead into half-time.

Despite being bottom of the ladder Woodvale was coming off their first victory over second-placed Baldivis and they proved difficult to break down for the Reds.

However, that early goal was enough for the Reds to win their first game this month to remain in fifth position on the ladder.

They next face Yanchep United away as they look to rebuild some momentum to make a charge for top two.

In the reserves La Fiamma picked up just their third win of the season in a two nil victory.
