It will be lights, camera, action again for Carnarvon’s only cinema, with the facility to reopen at the weekend following a two-year hiatus. Camel Lane Cinema has been closed since early 2020 because of COVID restrictions and staff shortages, with the Shire of Carnarvon in November last year announcing it would start works to reopen doors. The building was inspected in December, but the State’s only qualified cinema technician was unable to come to Carnarvon to install new equipment in January as planned. The Shire this month announced all works had been completed and the cinema was ready to reopen. Shire of Carnarvon president Eddie Smith said the highly anticipated reopening would come as a delight to tourists and locals alike. “The Shire team have been working hard to put together a grand opening event, where the council will be delighted to see Carnarvon families reunite at this popular Shire facility”, he said. The first screening is on Sunday, with Ghostbusters: Afterlife showing from 3pm. More screenings will be announced in the near future. Bookings are essential and tickets can be purchased through Carnarvon Visitor Centre.
