Man arrested in suspected gun threat

Two men have been arrested by Geraldton police today after gunshots were suspected to have been fired during a surbaban disturbance. A WA Police spokesperson said officers were called to a house on Clematis Crescent in the Geraldton suburb of Utakarra at 12.50pm after reports of a man acting “irrationally and unpredictably”. The spokesperson said two men had been involved in a situation with a 000 caller indicating threats were made. Police discovered damage done to a fence on the property during an altercation between the men, possibly by a projectile. Forensic officers attended the scene and have yet to determine if it was caused by bullets. A neighbour, who asked not to be named, told The Geraldton Guardian she had been warned to avoid the house when she moved to the street two years ago. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life, there’s been police here since about lunch just coming and going,” she said. At the scene, uniformed officers have closed down the street while forensic officers and detectives investigate. No one involved in the incident has been reported injured. The WA Police spokesman said both men were taken into custody shortly after and are cooperating with investigators. Police have not yet disclosed if any firearm has been found at the scene or if any charges have been laid against the suspected offender.
