Police say a man contacted them on Friday night after allegedly attacking another man with a hammer.

Acting Sergeant Gillian Simpson said the man allegedly told police he would kill the man if he came to his home.

“It is alleged he advised police he has hit the victim with a hammer three times to the head,” she said.

“Police attended Scott Road, Rangeway and located the suspect and the victim.

“The suspect was arrested and taken to Geraldton Police Station.”

Sgt Simpson said St John Ambulance treated the victim, a 37-year-old man, and took him to Geraldton Hospital with suspected head injuries and a possible fractured arm.

“The 37-year-old male suspect was charged with Acts or Omissions, with intent to cause bodily harm and bailed to attend Geraldton Magistrate’s Court to attend on Thursday, December 7,” she said.

People are encouraged to report any crime to Geraldton Police on 9923 4555 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
