Geraldton fatality: Man in his 20s dies after head-on crash with truck on Brand Hwy near Greenough River Rd

Police are calling for information regarding a fatal crash on Brand Highway in Cape Burney yesterday after a man, believed to be in his 20s, died after the car he was driving collided head-on with a truck.

Major Crash Investigation Section and Geraldton Police are investigating, and police said investigators would like to speak to anyone that saw the crash or that saw the vehicles before it happened.

The crash occurred around 5.35pm on the Brand Highway when a Toyota Avalon travelling north collided head-on with a Kenworth truck travelling south.

The 28-year-old male driver of the Avalon died at the scene as a result of the injuries he received.

The 58-year-old male driver of the truck was conveyed by St John Ambulance to Geraldton Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Roads were closed for several hours following the crash.

In an update just before midnight, Main Roads WA said the scene site on Brand Highway between Jandanol Road and Rudds Gully Road had been cleared.
