Man threatened with samurai sword in Beachlands

Geraldton Guardian

A 36-year-old man who allegedly used a samurai sword to threaten a Department of Communities contract worker in Beachlands this morning has been charged.

Geraldton police said the worker was cutting a grass verge on Augustus Street when the accused allegedly approached and threatened him, before returning to his home nearby.

He was arrested a short time later and charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear.

He was granted bail and will face Geraldton Magistrates Court on October 19.
