Man to face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court after police seized gun and weapons

Weapons have been seized and two men are facing charges after a suspected shooting at a suburban Geraldton home yesterday. A WA Police spokesperson said officers were called to a house on Clematis Crescent in Utakarra at 12.50pm after reports of a man acting “irrationally and unpredictably”. The spokesperson said two men had been involved in a situation with a triple zero caller indicating threats were made. The pair were arrested, with a 36-year-old man due to face the Geraldton Magistrate’s Court today on a string of charges including possessing an unlicensed firearm in circumstances of aggravation, and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon. A 26-year-old man is set to appear at the same court next month, charged with one count of criminal damage. Forensic officers attended the scene yesterday but it is not yet clear whether damage to a fance was caused by bullets. A neighbour, who asked not to be named, told The Geraldton Guardian she had been warned to avoid the house when she moved to the street two years ago. “I’ve never seen anything like this in my life, there’s been police here since about lunch just coming and going,” she said.
