Martians and Pi’s to battle it out for top of the table as Rams look to reinforcements in Geraldton softball

The Rams’ men’s side will be looking to put their 7-1 loss behind them when they take on Martians in the only division one men’s game of round six on Friday evening. Rams pitcher Dean Pascoe is in fine form despite his team’s loss and will be looking to set his fielders up for some more success. “Should be a good clash and we should have some keys players back, we are still not at full strength but getting there,” he said. “I expect it to be a very tight game.” Martians are coming off a bye but still sit on top of the ladder and will be looking to cement their spot with a convincing display. The women will see the return of in-form side Pi’s after their bye, up against Martians, fresh from their wins against Rams and Suiside. The game has plenty riding on it with the winner set to go top of the ladder. Rams take on Marlins in the other women’s game, with both sides looking to bounce back from losses in last weekend’s games. Dean Pascoe also gave his view on this match. “This will be a good game, but will all depend on the defence of Rams fielding errors have cost them the last two weeks, and this will be no exception if they are not at their best,” he said. “Both teams have good batting sides, and it will come down to who can field the best.” Division two games will see Batavia Blaze busy as both their women’s and men’s sides will be in action with the men facing a double-header against Marlins and Martians Black. Blaze put on a great display last round and was unlucky not to come away with the win against Martians Black with both sides looking to rectify the draw result. Blaze coach Adam Gilchrist said he was hopeful of his team’s success in round six. “We have a rematch with Martians after the draw last week against them hoping for a win hopefully the team will pull together and get the job done,” he said. In the other matches Rams White take on Martians Red with Suiside and Martians Red both having double-headers. Suiside will be hoping to recreate last round’s 17-1 victory with Simon Miller on fire for the young Bulldogs and will be a tough outfit to stop this weekend.
