Member for Durack Melissa Price pushes Mid West community organisations to apply for Volunteer Grants Program

Federal Member for Durack Melissa Price is encouraging local not-for-profit organisations to submit an expression of interest for the 2023-24 Volunteer Grants Program, with a focus on supporting local youth. The Federal Government’s grant applications are open for expressions of interest, with those keen required to contact their local MP to make a submission. Organisations nominated by their MP will be invited to apply for a grant between $1000 and $5000 in November. Ms Price said priority would be given to submissions supporting local youth and encouraged community organisations to register their interest. “Volunteers make crucial contributions to the life of Durack communities every day, helping some of our most vulnerable. I encourage all of our Durack volunteer organisations to apply for the grants to help make their work easier and safer,” she said. Grants will assist eligible not-for-profit community organisations to support the efforts of their volunteers. It can assist with small portable equipment purchases, contributions towards the cost of training volunteers, reimbursement of fuel costs for volunteers and undertaking background screening checks for volunteers.
